Lieutenant Ronald W. "Ronnie" Alexander was born at Ft. Polk, Louisiana to Dale and Billie Gay Alexander in 1968. Ronnie grew up in Deer Park, Texas, and was a high school athlete participating in football, baseball, and track and field. Ronnie is a United States Marine Corps veteran, serving as an Infantryman, Anti-tank Assault man, and Reconnaissance Marine. After leaving the Marine Corps, Ronnie attended Texas A&M Kingsville University in Kingsville, Texas, on a partial football scholarship.
In 1992, Ronnie attended the South Texas Regional Police Academy in Corpus Christi, Texas. Ronnie returned to the Houston area in 1996, and began his full time law enforcement career with the Harris County Pct. 3 Constable’s Office, working patrol and eventually specializing in Gang and Narcotics investigations. Ronnie also served as a Sr. Investigator for the Harris County Attorney’s Office working undercover operations in corruption and fraud. Ronnie has also worked extensively in Drug Trafficking Organization investigations in Liberty, Chambers, and Harris counties for the Texas Department of Public Safety Narcotics Task Forces at the Federal, State and local level.
Since 1997, Ronnie has also had the privilege to further serve as a Tactical Advisor in several capacities for the U.S. Department of State and the Department of Defense in Afghanistan. Ronnie has worked with the U.S. Marine Corps in the Law Enforcement Program, and with Special Forces and the Drug Enforcement Agency in the Poppy Eradication Program. Ronnie has served as a Security team leader providing security to high priority individuals for the State Department, and as an Intelligence and Biometrics Coordinator for the Special Forces community. His last billet was with the Department of Defense at Ft. Benning, Georgia, where he was an Advanced Situational Awareness Instructor for the U.S. Army Sniper School and Basic Infantry Officers Course.
Ronnie is a graduate of the Texas DPS Criminal Law Enforcement and Narcotics Investigators Academy, the Sam Houston State University Bill Blackwood Homicide Investigators course, Texas DPS High Risk Operations course, and numerous other law enforcement training courses. Ronnie is also a Texas Commission on Law Enforcement certified Instructor. Ronnie is a Subject Matter Expert for the Department of Defense and State Department in Counter Insurgency, Counter Improvised Explosive Devices, and Counter Narcotics and Human smuggling, as well as High Risk Security operations.
Ronnie holds a Master Peace Officer License, and has experience in Patrol, Homicide and Sex Crimes investigations, as well as extensive experience in Organized Crime and undercover operations. Ronnie comes from a law enforcement family. His step-father is a retired Harris County Sheriff’s Office Sergeant, and Ronnie’s oldest son, Ronald Alexander II, is a U. S. Marine veteran who served as a Military Police Officer in the Marine Corps.
Ronnie joined the San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office in November 2014 when Sheriff Greg Capers asked him to take Command of the newly formed Patrol Tactical Unit. Now, Ronnie is assigned as the Patrol Bureau Commander, supervising all of the patrol bureau duties for the Sheriff's Office.
